Do you live in Temple, Texas and need a tooth extraction?
Teeth can need extraction for many reasons, including extreme decay, broken teeth, or gum disease. It is important to keep your teeth healthy, because diseased or abscessed teeth can cause many problems. If a tooth reaches a certain point in decay or disease, many treatment options will be unable to cure the infection. At this point in time, many who suffer from this situation, need to have one or many teeth extracted. If needed, an oral surgeon will remove any infected teeth. Infected teeth can infect other areas of the mouth over time, so removing infected teeth is necessary. Therefore, if you are in a situation such as this, it is best to contact an experienced oral surgeon immediately.
Prior to the procedure, your oral surgeon will administer an anesthetic to numb the area around the infected tooth and to make your more comfortable. This anesthetic will also able you to sleep through the entire procedure comfortably. Depending on the number of teeth that you need to have removed, the strength of the anesthetic may be adjusted. After you are fully unconscious, the oral surgeon will remove the infected teeth and stitch up any areas that need to be closed. After the procedure, you may experience mild to moderate pain, slight discomfort and light bleeding. These are all normal symptoms after a tooth extraction. The pain can typically be managed by either prescribed medications or over-the-counter medications. If you do experience any light bleeding, it is best to gently bite down on a piece of gauze. This should stipend the bleeding shortly. If it persists and is somewhat heavy, contact your oral surgeon immediately. After you have recovered from this procedure, your oral surgeon can replace the missing teeth with dental implants, dentures or bridges.
