This event is designed to be educational, but it is also a “Night Out” for Hygienists. Please be courteous to others and keep conversation down to a minimum during the program. We look forward to seeing you there!

One Nation Overdosed: Unmasking the Opioid Epidemic

One pill can kill, one pill can cause addiction. Opioid abuse, including Oxy, Fentanyl and Heroin, is destroying lives, devastating families and communities across the Untied States. Addiction and overdoses are happening in all states, from all backgrounds, all ages, in both men and women. According to the NIDA, more Americans died form overdoses than from car accidents or gun violence in 2018. As health care professionals, we are ideal first responders and poised to help our patients that “use” in an unhealthy manner. STOP the cycle of addiction.
This program will uncover the mysteries of these addictive drugs and elevate our awareness as health care professionals. Edie will share, with brutal honesty, her own stories of living with addicts. Participants should be able to:
• Appreciate the cycle of addiction
• Identify the current trends if opioid misuse, including Fentanyl, Heroin and others
• Recognize signs and symptoms of opioid addiction
• Understand pain management alternatives to opioids
